For single and double scaffolding systems below 24m in height, scissor bracing must be provided at each end of the outside of the scaffolding and should be continuous from the base to the top. The distance from the scissor bracing to the walkway should not exceed 15m. For double scaffolding systems over 24m in height, scissor bracing should be provided along the entire outside face and height of the scaffolding.
Double scaffolding systems should be provided with scissor bracing and horizontal diagonal bracing, while single scaffolding systems should be provided with scissor bracing only. The span of each scissor bracing should not be less than 4 spans, the spacing between scissor bracings should not be less than 6m, and the angle of the diagonal bars with the ground should be between 45° and 60°.
Ground/Surface Conditions:
1. The ground or surface must be able to support the scaffold and its load.
2. The ground or surface must be as level as possible.
3. Appropriate base plates and decking must be used to ensure the stability of the scaffold.
4. All base plates must have sufficient strength and thickness to support the scaffold and its load, and should be in good condition.
Specifications:
A base or pad should be provided at the bottom of each column. The pad should be made of wooden pad boards, which should be at least 2 spans in length and 50mm thick, or channel steel may also be used.
