II. Longitudinal Tube Calculation
1.Calculation method: Check strength and deflection as a three-span continuous beam.
2.Load calculation:
Uniformly distributed dead load: Standard self-weight of longitudinal tube p1 = 0.038 kN/m; standard load from scaffold planks p2 = 0.15 × 1.05 / 3 = 0.053 kN/m.
Standard live load q = 3 × 1.05 / 3 = 1.05 kN/m.
3.Design load values:
Calculated dead load q1 = 1.2 × 0.038 + 1.2 × 0.053 = 0.109 kN/m.
Calculated live load q2 = 1.4 × 1.05 = 1.47 kN/m.
4.Deflection check:Maximum deflection v = (0.677 × 0.091 + 0.990 × 1.05) × 1200⁴ / (100 × 2.06 × 10⁵ × 121900) = 0.909 mm, which is less than 1200 / 150 = 8 mm and 10 mm, meeting the requirements.
III. Transverse Tube Calculation
1.Calculation method: Check strength and deflection as a simply supported beam.
2.Load calculation:
Standard self-weight of longitudinal tube p1 = 0.038 × 1.20 = 0.046 kN.
Standard load from scaffold planks p2 = 0.15 × 1.05 × 1.20 / 3 = 0.063 kN.
Standard live load q = 3 × 1.05 × 1.20 / 3 = 1.26 kN.
3.Strength check:Maximum bending moment M = (1.2 × 0.038) × 1.05² / 8 + 1.895 × 1.05 / 3 = 0.67 kN·m, corresponding stress 131.89 N/mm², which is less than 205.0 N/mm², meeting the requirements.
4.Deflection check:Maximum deflection v = v1 + v2 = 2.264 mm, which is less than 1050 / 150 = 7 mm and 10 mm, meeting the requirements.
