Common Scaffolding Protection Measures in Projects

Scaffolding daily protection is critical to construction safety, covering platform protection, structural stability, fall prevention, object strike prevention and environmental adaptation.

1. Basic Working Platform Protection
Plank Protection
Scaffold planks must be fully, stably and firmly laid. Overhanging planks exceeding 15cm are strictly prohibited.
Wooden planks shall be at least 5cm thick and firmly tied. Steel planks shall have anti-slip features and be securely fixed.
Gaps between planks and the building must be closed to prevent falls.
Guardrails and Toe Boards
Working platforms shall be equipped with 1.2m-high guardrails and 18cm-high toe boards.
Close-fitted safety nets with at least 2000 meshes per 100cm² shall be installed outside guardrails.

2. Structural Stability Protection
Wall Tie Maintenance
Regularly check wall ties for looseness, deformation or loss. Random removal is prohibited.
Temporary removal requires supports and timely restoration, not exceeding 1/3 of total ties.
Bracing Members
Diagonal bracing shall be continuous and set at 45°–60°.
Scaffolding over 24m high shall have horizontal bracing to avoid overturning.
Standards and Ledgers
Base plates and bases shall be stable without settlement. Vertical deviation of standards shall not exceed 1/200 of height.
Couplers shall be tightened to 40–65N·m.

3. Fall Prevention and Personal Protection
Access Protection
Access passages shall have handrails and anti-slip strips with a slope no greater than 1:3.
Building entrances shall be protected by double-layer canopies.
Operator Protection
Workers must wear safety helmets, safety belts and anti-slip shoes.
Playing, chasing and working after drinking are prohibited.

4. Falling Object Prevention and Material Management
Materials shall be stacked evenly without overloading (generally ≤2kN/m²).
Tools shall be placed in tool bags; construction waste shall be cleaned timely.
Isolation layers shall be installed for cross-operation. Safety nets shall be inspected regularly.

5. Weather Adaptation and Regular Inspection
Work shall be stopped in winds of level 6 or above, heavy rain, snow or fog.
Ice and snow must be removed before resumption; anti-slip measures shall be taken.
